Made from 100% coconut shell based activated carbon, this GAC media is designed for applications where chlorine, taste, odour and selected organic reduction are required, subject to correct system design, contact time, flow rate and water quality.

Crystwater Premium Coconut Shell Granular Activated Carbon is a water filtration grade GAC media suitable for selected refillable cartridges, filter vessels and domestic or light-commercial water filtration systems.

Made from 100% coconut shell based activated carbon, this media offers a hard granular structure, low ash content and high microporosity compared with many general-purpose carbon media.

It is commonly used to help reduce chlorine, taste and odour in suitable filtration systems. Performance depends on water quality, media volume, contact time, flow rate and system design.

Selection Guide

Before ordering activated carbon media, check your existing filter housing, cartridge type, media volume, flow direction, intended application and required pack size.

Coconut shell GAC is commonly selected where a hard carbon structure, low ash content and high microporosity are preferred. It is often suitable for chlorine, taste and odour reduction applications where the filtration system provides enough contact time and appropriate flow control.

Do not select pack size by weight alone if your cartridge or vessel requires a specific fill volume.

For drinking water applications, use only within suitable systems and follow the system manufacturer’s instructions. Contact Crystwater if you are unsure which pack size is suitable for your refill or maintenance requirement.
Usage, Handling & Storage

Rinse or flush activated carbon media thoroughly according to the requirements of the filter system before normal use.

Some fine carbon dust may be present during handling or initial flushing. This is common for granular activated carbon and should be flushed through before use.

Handling and storage notes:

  • Keep the media sealed until use
  • Store in a cool, dry location
  • Avoid moisture contamination during storage
  • Avoid breathing dust during handling
  • Do not consume
  • Do not mix with incompatible media unless the filter system is designed for it
  • Replace media according to water quality, flow rate, media volume and usage conditions
